2013-16: Transcorneal electrical stimulation for the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa. A multicenter safety study of the Okustim® System.
Retinitis pigmentosa is an inherited, progressive eye disease that affects one to three million people worldwide. This disease often leads to blindness and there are still no approved treatment options. One possible therapeutic approach is to use the release of neurotrophic substances induced by transcorneal electrical stimulation. In this study we aim to exclude stimulation-related adverse effects and significant deterioration in risk parameters that goes beyond the natural course of disease.
