2001-18: Intravitreal dexamethasone for the treatment of bacterial endophthalmitis.
Trauma and emergency
Investigator Initiated Research
Inclusion open since 1-9-2002
The results of a small prospective randomized trial with intravitreal dexamethasone as adjuvant in the treatment of patients with suspected bacterial endophthalmitis showed a trend towards a better visual outcome for the patients in the active treatment group compared to placebo. This randomized prospective multicenter study is designed to test the hypothesis that adjuvant dexamethasone improves the visual outcome in a group of 150 patients with bacterial endophthalmitis.
