2016-36: Soft and Hard Contact Lens Wear and the Risk of Acquired Blepharoptosis
Blepharoptosis of the upper eyelid is an acquired condition that affects the eldery and the younger population. In younger patients blepharoptosis may be associated with ocular surgery or trauma, recurrent eyelid edema, periocular infection, giant papillary conjunctivitis, eyelid rubbing or contact lens wear. With hard contact lens wear it is assumed that this maybe the cause of blepharoptosis. Our hypothesis is that soft contact lens wear also may cause blepharoptosis.
