Human herpesviruses (HHVs) are highly prevalent in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)-infected individuals in Western counties who have an increased risk for HHV-related disease. There is limited information available on the seroprevalence of HHVs and prevalence of associated conditions in sub-Saharan Africa, especially in rural areas. This study aims to fill that gap and provide insight in the prevalence of these conditions in rural Mopani District, Limpopo Province, South Africa. The objective of this Cross-sectional studyis to determine the overall seroprevalence of HHVs in antiretroviral therapy (ART)-naive HIV-infected individuals and stratified by HIV CD4 count.
